Light filled, voluminous spaces layer around a sunny interior courtyard in this 5,400 square foot renovation, which transformed a 50 year old, Tudor house into a bold, contemporary home. Archetypal building forms: cylinder, cube, wedge and cone and new walls formed along abstract lines—swinging arcs and piercing planes—sculpt volume into meaningful space and form. A two story curving wall in the courtyard radiates from the entry fountain where one first enters. Converging lines define the vaulted stair tower, that thrusts through a two story glass wall at the rear facade. Shades of rose and lavender stucco enrich the wall surfaces and cantera stone defines the floors of the courtyard and the primary living areas.
